GEAR ENVY: SOL Origin

Everyone likes to survive right? Maybe that’s why there are so many survival tools on the market. Well a company called SOL (Survive Outdoors Longer) has just bought the ‘Origin’ to the stage. Unlike most other survival tools which try and cram it all into the body of a knife or multi-tool, SOL has taken a different approach by providing what could loosely be described as a container into which everything slots into place.

sol-originThe palm sized and waterproof ABS plastic casing provides the backbone from which a knife (also a 100db whistle and LED light), compass, signal mirror and fire-spark-maker are deployed. Open it up to reveal mil-spec stainless steel wire, braided nylon cord, emergency sewing and fishing kit, Tinder-Quik fire starters and Buck Tilton’s top 60 survival techniques. Onya Buck!

It’ll set you back $40 USD, and as far as I know, the US is where it’s gotta come from. Which could be a pain in the arse. Have a closer look at the SOL Origin HERE.
